the break-up

Ending a relationship, especially after expecting so much and hoping for so much more, it makes sense that I am disappointed. However, I am not sad sad, like people who weep on their pillows, clutch their stomachs, and consume massive amounts of chocolate for comfort. Maybe, its different this time around. I had definitely grown to accept that things are not certain. It was a learning experience. I definitely treasure the good and bad times of it. I think it helped me define more clearly the type of person I would want to be involved with.

I think as someone who follows Christ and word of the Bible, the general tone of how we deal our relationships is to love other and to forgive others despite the flaws and that the greater relationship is of a higher spiritual being, Christ. I definitely follow the verse, which I cannot find right now, about protecting your heart, for the heart is deceptive. God opened my eyes this past week.

Adopted in China, Seeking Identity in America - New York Times

The return

I've gone back and forth like John Kerry between xanga and blogger. However, I think I settled on writing on blogger because I like the sophisticated blogging tools. In addition, xanga is not really recognized like a blog, but more of a myspace, a forum for popularity of sorts.

I would find more freedom here on blogger, more of a license to say things that normally I would not be able to say on my xanga, per se that there will be people who would IM me and say thats not PC or you are corrupting the kids.

So I raise a glass of cold milk, cheers!

matthew 5:14-16

"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."

*Jesus calls us forth, those who received Jesus as Lord and Savior, to be beacons of light among our fellow people. It is by God's love that we are changed, it is HE who lights us inwardly. Let us show the world our light by being in the frontline. Being there to fight for the oppressed and fight for moral values. Fight for knowing there is a loving God.

bye

i went back to xanga even though blogger is way cooler. I get no readership here besides 1 or 2 people.

Later.

Just kickin' it

So last night I had dinner with Nory and Shirley at the South Street Seaport. It was a nice night that included a nice breeze and people walking about at seaport. After eating at Heartland Brewery (I had the raspberry cider beer), Nory and I walked to Battery Park to check out the boats, the water, and the NJ skyline. Battery Park and World Financial Center is beautiful at night. If I had to live in NYC, these would be my top 3 choices:

1) Battery Park
2) Tribeca
3) Riverside Park (Columbia Area)

I prefer to live by the water because there is something soothing and calm about watching the waves. Anyway, Nory and I just kicked it and talked. Its sad to see him go, but I know he had to make a change to fulfill his path to being a doctor. It was cool that he opened up to his struggles and the stuff he is going through now and how he was cool to listen to what I had to say. On Carol's xanga, she wrote about different types of friends: acquaintances, hang-out friends, good friends, and true friends. It just made me think and agree that you only find a few true friends in your lifetime. Maybe thats why its precious because you can only find a few in the sea of people.

Happy Birthday Toilet Paper!

Thelma Brittingham knows how to party.

Last week she organized a birthday party for toilet paper at the Holiday Retirement Village, in Evansville, Indiana. She says she found some research that indicates a primitive form of TP was used for the first time on August 26th, in the year 580.

She says even if it is not the exact date, toilet paper is still something worth celebrating.

She notes many of her fellow residents at the retirement home don't get out much. She adds the TP birthday party was a way to have some laughs and eat ice cream and cake. For the record, the first toilet paper roll was marketed in 1867 by the Scott brothers.
